  • Destined for the Periphery

     Paper by Celene Cleland-Gomez which examines the globalisation/sovereignty paradox and looks at the restructuring of the world economy and international state system and what it implies for the future development of the Caribbean.

  • Extraterritoriality and Competition Law

    This paper by David Gomez examines the adequacy of extraterritoriality as a policy tool for regulating economic activities that extends beyond a states’ territorial boundaries but which have an impact on it nonetheless. The utility of that practice for realizing state objectives is now being called into question as states increasingly seek to determine what framework of cooperation is best suited for addressing regulatory matters within international anti-trust and competition law.

Legal Advisor - Ministry of Foreign Trade Papua New Guinea

The Trade Related Assistance Project (T.R.A.P.) is a 3.3 million Euro project implemented in Papua New Guinea through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. The TRAPs main objective was to support PNG in benefiting more from international trade with a view to increased growth and through that to contribute to poverty reduction in the country.

Provided local counterpart support to Emerging Markets Group (EMG) Ltd. in the execution of studies under the project and conducted the Product Inventory and Institutional Analysis requirements.

Revision to Belize’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Policy Belize Trade and Investment Development Services (Beltraide)

Revised the country’s MSME policy to reflect more contextually appropriate policy responses and approaches. Download Project Report

Development of Belize Maritime Port Strategy and Strategic Plan for Belize Port Authority

Development of the country’s Maritime Ports Strategy established to provide the basis for development of the sector. The consultancy also provided for a complementary Strategic Posture and plan for the executing agency with responsibility for policy implementation.

Trade Capacity Building for Meaningful Private Sector engagement in the EPA Negotiations, Project 123—Belize Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Project 123- Belize was funded by the ACP-EU Project Management Office under the 8th EDF. Its general objective was to develop institutional and negotiating capacity within the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the period of negotiations for an Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union that would allow for meaningful input and engagement in Belize’s commercial and trade policy development and implementation processes by the private sector.
